Peoria Rivermen Win Again!!!!
The Peoria Rivermen bowled over another opponent on home ice Friday. The AHL club raced to its 10th straight victory on home ice, beating the Houston Aeros, 3-1, before 4,015 at Carver Arena. The 10-spot drops the Rivermen magic number to clinch a playoff spot at one point, against Quad City. Peoria locked out Chicago (lost at Quad City) and Iowa (lost at San Antonio) from playoff contention, and took over sole possession of second place in the West Division from Houston.
The Peoria Rivermen found themselves in familiar territory Saturday — the victory column against the Quad City Flames. And that put the Rivermen in a place they hadn’t been since 2005-06 — the AHL playoffs. The Rivermen got all the goals they needed in the first period, rode goaltender Manny Legace for the first 40 minutes and hung on to beat Quad City, 2-1, and clinch a playoff spot in the West Division before 3,454 at i wireless Center.
